What Makes Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Koke Special?

Yirgacheffe is one of the world's most celebrated coffee-growing regions, renowned for producing coffees with remarkable clarity, complexity and vibrant fruit character. This coffee comes from the Koke washing station, where local smallholder farmers deliver carefully hand-picked cherries grown at altitudes of 1,870 to 1,900 metres.

Processed using the natural method, the coffee cherries are dried whole before the beans are removed, allowing natural sweetness and fruit flavours to develop. The result is a beautifully layered cup with notes of blackcurrant, brown sugar and black tea, supported by a silky body and clean finish.

With an SCA score of 88, this coffee represents some of the finest coffees produced in Ethiopia.

Who Will Enjoy Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Koke?

This coffee is ideal for customers who enjoy elegant, fruit-forward coffees with floral aromas and layered sweetness. Its distinctive character makes it particularly appealing to pour-over enthusiasts and anyone looking to experience one of Ethiopia's most celebrated coffee origins.

Five star everytime.

Would not even look to change my coffee supplier.
I have a very selective taste for African grown coffees and am never disappointed by any of the growers Redber select

My favourite

I've been a regular Redber customer for over five years now and have decided to post my first review. This is the most perfectly balanced coffee I've tried from Redber. Definitely a coconut mouthfeel, subtle sweetness with complexity and rustic earthy/farmy notes. As others have said, this has luscious thick crema as an expresso shot, and it's great in a bean to cup machine (and probably any other way you wish to brew it!)

Simply Superb

I've never really tried Ethiopian coffee before, I'd always thought it would be bitter. But I decided to give it a go and I've been amazed at how smooth and full-flavoured I found it to be. I will definitely be making this a regular on the shopping list from now on. It has easily become one of my favourite coffees.

Delicious Coffee

As you can probably tell, this is my go to coffee every time. I really find it hard to try others as I love the flavour smoothness so much. The roast is perfect the service once again from the Redber team is first class. Superb.

Not for me

This has great reviews and for some, i am sure this coffee tastes great. Unfortunately for my taste buds i have discovered that i am not a fan of these beans. I am still learning about the flavour contrasts which can lead to fun discoveries. I now know that "woody" flavour coffee is not an every day taste.

The first taste took me immediately think i had eaten farm hay from a sheep pen. I did give this a few drinks over a few days using filter and pour over. I changed the grind size but each method still tasted odd.

Dont take my review as gospel. Everyone is different and i am sure my tastes buds like beans you may not too.

Sweet

First time sampling this coffee and ordered alongside a typical Brazilian chocolate/caramel dark roast. This coffee has a pleasant sweetness and lacks the harshness present in the other bean. Superb, would recommend.

Not for me

I like Yirgacheffe coffee, but this coffee disappointed me.
It does not have the aroma and sourness inherent in Yirgacheffe, the taste is rough.

An old friend

It has been a few years since I last tried Yirgacheffe and it is great to find that it is still a really good coffee. My usual preference is for coffees with a caramel/chocolate taste, but I'll definitely have more of this one in future.

Must try.

You can really taste the fruitiness in this one which for me matches up nicely with the extra depth of medium dark roast

Second time as good as the first

I was bought a tasting pack including the Yirgacheff. Which is why I went back to buy more of it.

Intense dark chocolate with a red wine finish. Fantastic coffee.

great

I Like Yigarcheffe alot, this is missing that blueberry tang you get on some however the beans are excellent,
the right level of dry and oily to give the maximum 'bounce', an absolute pleasure in the morning.
Really suits my machine (9barrista) alot of crema and pretty forgiving on extraction times.

Distinctive

I'd previously had a Yirgacheffe coffee with a distinctive flavour which I'd not been able to find again. This is it. Highly recommended.
