I keep buying it

I keep buying it. Isn’t that good enough? Fist discovered Sumatra Mandheling in Anchorage, Alaska in the 1980s and have used it ever since whenever I can find it.

Always fresh and spot on

Always fresh and spot on. Love the mandheling beans. Been on monthly delivery for a while now.

Thanks !!

too strong, generic flat notes.

For me this one is just another strong coffee with no distinct layers and notes, roast too dark, could do with a light roast.

Beans are not uniformly roasted. It looks like they scraped the bottom of different bags. Some beans are pretty oily while others look light to medium roasted. I will try different grind sizes and see how they do. For more than a year quality of roasting has gone down badly.

the best coffee I've ever had - and I've drunk a lot of coffee over the last 60 years

Every so often I make myself try another coffee - but it's never quite as good as this one. Its flavour combines strength, depth and richness and is meltingly mellow without a hint of 'edge' or bitterness.
I love the unparalleled freshness of Redber coffee and their fantastic friendly and flexible customer service. Having a coffee subscription with Redber is good for my mental health!

Great service from Redber but didn’t enjoy this coffee so much

Sumatra Mandeheling used to be my favourite coffee but I now find that I prefer some of the beans that (I think) have a more subtle flavour and taste.

Excellent!

This coffee gives me the flavour without the acidity of other coffees which I like but which my stomach doesn't.

Thank to the staff at Reder and their patient advice!

Very good coffee and appreciate the chance to try new coffees and experiment a bit. The company itself is efficient and responsive and generally a pleasure to deal with

Sumatra Mandheling

Nice coffee, but I should have gone for the one I had first order, made a mistake, needed the stronger one, still a nice flavour nevertheless

My go to coffee.

Inverted Aeropress, grind my own beans. I love trying different coffees but I keep coming back to this. It is so moorish. The smell when I first pour is awesome. Nice weighty feel in the mouth, quite a complex taste that I can't find the words to describe. Lovely aftertaste.

Excellent!

I usually buy coffee beans though with one hand out of action I needed to buy ground. I stayed with my current favorite. So pleased that I don't know if I need to buy beans again. I have the same taste without loss of flavour.

SUMATRA MANDHELING

Offered a cup of this to a lifelong tea drinker who never normally drinks coffee. She loved it. What more can I say

Good beans , good roast

For me, the Sumatra Mandehling hits the sweet spot at medium-dark, a good combination of its natural smokiness with the roasting flavours. Grinds and extracts consistently too.

Bronze medal

I just reviewed Old Brown Java which is my favourite coffee from Redber. My next favourite is the currently unobtainable Papua New Guinea Elimbari and this Sumatra Mandheling is third in my pecking order. They are similar in many respects being earthy and low acid coffees but my pecking order reflects the nuances and characterfulness of each variety.
I have been drinking Mandheling all week, happily, but today I have OBJ and more is definitely more. Still five stars though.

Low acidity

That is the key to excellence. Will buy more. But I am the only consumer here, so it's a slow process.

Sumatra Mandheling decaf

An excellent decaffeinated coffee. I fully recommend it.

Sensitive but rewarding

Going that little bit coarser and hotter made for one smooth, full and almost partitioned espresso where the top sip bitter blends into a smooth body with an earthy tang in the last sip. (I don't stir)
Also easy to get wrong as I started pulling it like any other shot about 25 seconds. The shots that came out too fast were the beauties.
This is about the closest experience I've got to Indo beans at 3x the price.
Buy some. Play with it.
